2017 WPA World Artistic Pool Championship

The 2017 WPA World Artistic Pool Championship was held January 12 – 15 at the beautiful Bikini Square Convention Center in Xingcheng, China overlooking the ocean. We had 27 players from all over the world, vying for: 8 WPA World Artistic Pool Discipline Champion titles, 1 “overall” WPA World Artistic Pool Champion title, and much more. Luke Szywala from Krakow, Poland played Florian Kohler from France, in the semifinals winning 90-88. Tough day at the office for players, for four players it meant three tough matches for the chance of getting into the final of a world championship. Today kicked off with the completion of the double elimination group stage leaving just 32 players remaining. There were no real surprises from the double elimination favoured players getting through to the single elimination stage which features 32 players. Format for the event is two stages, first stage the 64 players are divided into 8 groups of 8. Each group plays a double elimination which means a player must win two matches to qualify. Two losses and you’re out. The second stage features 32 players which is single elimination or knock-out. World 9-Ball Championships – Juniors

The 2016 World 9-Ball Championships for juniors ended today at the Huimin Middle School in Shanghai. In the boys under 17 category, Xiao Huai Zheng of China proved too good for Mongolian Enkhold Temuujin. Both players were very competitive but in the end Zheng proved too strong and won 8/5. In the girls it was a battle between two Taiwanese girls, Chia-Hua Chen and Pei-Chun Tsai.
