DESCRIPTION:The World Pool Association (WPA) is excited to announce the inaugural WPA Heyball Parasport World Championship, a groundbreaking event celebrating the spirit of inclusivity and athletic excellence. This championship, presented by JOY, will take place from December 14 to December 20, 2024, at the prestigious Los Angeles Convention Center, California, USA.\nEvent Overview\nThe WPA Heyball Parasport World Championship will bring together male and female athletes with musculoskeletal disorders to compete in two main categories: wheelchair athletes and standing athletes. With 128 male and 128 female participants in each category, the event promises to be a thrilling showcase of skill, determination, and sportsmanship.\nThe tournament will be held on JOY 9ft tables with rounded pocket openings, using Super Aramith TV-Cup Pro balls and Strachan 110 cloth, ensuring the highest standards of competition. Athletes will compete in a double-elimination format, followed by a single knock-out stage, culminating in an intense finale on December 20.\nSchedule of Events\n– December 14: Arrival & Accreditation\n– December 15: Practice Day & Opening Ceremony\n– December 16-19: Competition Days\n– December 20: Finals & Award Ceremony\n– December 21: Departure\nParticipant Support\nThanks to JOY’s sponsorship, all participants will have the following expenses covered:\n– Return flight tickets\n– Airport transfers in Los Angeles\n– Accommodation and meals for the entire event duration\nEligibility Criteria\nAthletes in the wheelchair division must rely on a wheelchair for at least 80% of their daily activities. The standing division will include athletes with movement impairments in arms or legs, short stature, missing limbs, or joint stiffness.\nAll athletes are required to hold a WPA player license and provide a medical certificate verifying their movement impairments.\nAwards\nThe competition will offer a total prize pool of USD 80,000\nRegistration\nAthletes are required to register via their National Federation who will nominate them through their continental federation to the WPA.
