ATHLETES COMMISSION REGULATIONS

1. There shall be a body known as the Commission.
2. The Commission shall serve as the representative body for Athletes within the WPA, providing a platform for their voices to be heard and contributing to the development of policies and initiatives affecting Athletes.
3. The purpose of the Commission is to:
3.1 advocate for the rights, interests, and welfare of Athletes within the WPA framework.
3.2 provide input on matters affecting Athletes, including rules, regulations, and competition formats.
3.3 promote fair play, inclusivity, and equal opportunities for all Athletes.
4. The Commission shall consist of six members:
4.1 three male Athletes and
4.2 three female Athletes.
5. Members of the Commission shall be elected by the top-ranked Athletes as determined by the WPA Rankings.
6. The Chair of the Commission shall also serve as a Director.
7. To be eligible for election to the Commission, candidates must:
7.1 be active Athletes in good standing; and
7.2 demonstrate a commitment to representing the interests of their peers;
and must not:-
7.3 have a history of serious disciplinary penalty imposed by the WPA or other governing bodies
8. Members of the Commission must be and remain in good standing with the WPA.
9. Elections shall be conducted every two years, aligning with the Annual General Meeting.
10. Voting rights shall be granted exclusively to the top-ranked athletes, as determined by the WPA ranking system as at 1 January in any given year for the year in question, as follows:
10.1 the top 128 men can vote for the male representatives;
10.2 the top 64 women can vote for the female representatives
11. The election process shall ensure:
11.1 Equal representation of male and female athletes.
11.2 A transparent and fair voting procedure supervised by the Board.
12. Members of the Commission shall serve a term of two years, with the option to seek re-election for additional term save for the President who, once elected by the Commission from its members shall serve for four years.
13. Casual vacancies in the Commission shall be filled by the Commission until the next Annual General Meeting.
14. In relation to appointments in 2027 and beyond, the Chairperson shall serve a four-year term concurrent with their position as a WPA director.
15. The Inaugural Chairperson shall be Ms Kelly Fisher who shall hold that position until the Annual General Meeting in 2027.
16. The Commission shall:
16.1 act as an advisory body to the WPA on athlete-related matters.
16.2 facilitate communication between Athletes and the WPA.
16.3 provide recommendations on policies, programs, and initiatives.
17. The Chairperson shall:
17.1 be a Director and shall represent the Commission on the Board.
17.2 convene and chair meetings of the Commission.
17.3 report Commission activities and recommendations to the Board.
18. The Commission shall meet at least quarterly, with additional meetings convened as necessary.
19. Meetings may be held in person or virtually, ensuring accessibility for all members.
20. A quorum shall consist of four members, including at least one male and one female member.
21. Decisions shall be made by a majority vote of the members present, provided the quorum requirements are met. The Chair shall have a deliberative and casting vote.
22. The Commission shall submit quarterly reports to the Board and an annual report to the WPA, detailing its activities, recommendations, and outcomes. The Chairperson shall present the report at the Annual General Meeting
