The 39th Japan Open Returns to Tokyo as Asia’s Premier Cue Sports Showcase Heads Into It’s 2026 Edition

The 39th Japan Open is officially set to return from September 19–21, 2026, bringing together some of the world’s finest cue sports athletes in Tokyo, Japan.

Organized by the Japan Professional Billiards Association, the prestigious event will feature both Men’s 10-Ball and Women’s 9-Ball divisions, with WPA ranking points on offer as part of its continued co-sanctioning with the WPA and ACBS.

The Men’s division will accommodate up to 352 players competing in 10-Ball, while the Women’s division will feature up to 96 players in 9-Ball competition. The tournament will culminate at Tokyo’s New Pia Hall, where eight Diamond PRO-AM Black tables will be installed for the Final Round showcase.

The 2026 edition continues a strong partnership between the JPBA, Diamond Billiard Products, Inc., and New Art Ltd., following a three-year agreement signed through 2027.

Tournament Schedule:
Men’s Event (10-Ball): September 19–21, 2026
Women’s Event (9-Ball): September 20–21, 2026

The Men’s division will award a top prize of ¥1,400,000, while the Women’s Champion will earn ¥500,000.

Entries are scheduled to open on July 15, 2026, and will close on August 10, 2026, on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

The WPA looks forward to another outstanding edition of one of Asia’s most historic and respected professional pool events.
