World Pool Association Supports Postponement of the WCBS Games 2026

For Immediate Release

July 2026

The World Pool Association (WPA) acknowledges the decision by the World Confederation of Billiards Sports (WCBS) to postpone the inaugural WCBS Games, which were scheduled to be held in Doha, Qatar, from 12–15 October 2026.

The decision, taken by the WCBS Board following careful consideration of the current situation in the Gulf region, reflects a shared commitment to the safety, wellbeing and confidence of athletes, officials, member federations, partners and all stakeholders involved in the event.

As a founding member of the WCBS, the WPA fully supports this decision and remains committed to working alongside the Confederation and fellow member federations to ensure the successful delivery of the inaugural WCBS Games in 2027.

The WCBS Games represent an important milestone for cue sports, bringing together the world’s leading athletes across pool, snooker, carom and other cue sports disciplines on one international stage. While the postponement is disappointing for athletes and fans who were looking forward to the inaugural edition this year, the WPA believes that this decision will ultimately provide the strongest foundation for a world-class event.

WPA President Ishaun Singh said:

“The WPA fully supports the decision made by the WCBS Board. The wellbeing of our athletes, officials and the entire cue sports community must always remain the highest priority. Although we were eagerly anticipating the inaugural WCBS Games in Doha, we respect the decision to postpone and look forward to working closely with WCBS and our fellow member federations to deliver a truly exceptional event in 2027.”

The WPA extends its appreciation to the Local Organising Committee, member federations, athletes, officials and commercial partners for their continued support and understanding during this process.

Further information regarding the rescheduled WCBS Games, including dates and host arrangements, will be communicated by WCBS in due course.

The WPA remains committed to the continued growth of cue sports worldwide and looks forward to celebrating the inaugural WCBS Games together with the global billiards community in 2027.
