WPA Public Statement – Announcement of the Athletes’ Commission

Exciting News from the WPA!

The World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) is proud to announce the establishment of the Athletes’ Commission, a dedicated body designed to represent and advocate for the rights, interests, and welfare of athletes within the WPA framework.

The Athletes’ Commission will provide a direct platform for athletes to have their voices heard, contributing to key discussions on rules, regulations, and competition formats while promoting fair play, inclusivity, and equal opportunities in our sport.

Commission Structure
The Commission will consist of six members – three male and three female athletes – elected by the top-ranked players based on WPA rankings.

Election Process
Elections will be held every two years, with voting rights granted to the top-ranked athletes as of January 1st of each election year. The first elections will be held in alignment with the upcoming WPA Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Leadership & Representation
The Chairperson of the Athletes’ Commission will also serve as a WPA Director, ensuring direct representation at the highest level of governance. We are pleased to confirm that Ms. Kelly Fisher will serve as the Inaugural Chairperson until the 2027 AGM.

Get Involved!  The WPA is committed to transparency and athlete engagement, and we encourage all eligible athletes to participate in the election process. Stay tuned for further updates on nominations, voting, and the official election timeline.
