Three Asian Champions Crowned as Men’s 9-Ball Championship Takes Centre Stage in Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam | July 13, 2026 – Three new continental champions were crowned at the 2026 Asian Pool Championships, a World Pool Association (WPA)-sanctioned event organized by the Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports (ACBS), as Ko Pin Chung (Chinese Taipei) claimed the Men’s 10-Ball title, Huang Qingning (China) lifted the Women’s 9-Ball crown, and Lin Chang Yen (Chinese Taipei) captured the Junior 9-Ball Championship. Meanwhile, the A+Plus Men’s 9-Ball Asian Pool Championship officially got underway, setting the stage for the tournament’s final title

Chinese Taipei’s Ko Pin Chung produced a commanding display to win the ANDY Men’s 10-Ball Asian Pool Championship, defeating Mohammad Soufi of Syria 11-5 in the final. Ko controlled the match with his trademark precision and tactical play, securing another major continental title and further cementing his status among Asia’s elite players.

The HOW Women’s 9-Ball Asian Pool Championship concluded with one of the most thrilling matches of the tournament as Huang Qingning of China edged Chen Chia Hua of Chinese Taipei 11-10 in a dramatic deciding-rack final. Huang showed exceptional composure under pressure to claim her first Asian Women’s 9-Ball title after an unforgettable championship match.

In the EBR Junior’s 9-Ball Asian Pool Championship, Lin Chang Yen of Chinese Taipei delivered another outstanding performance to defeat Caden Lau of Hong Kong, China 9-6. Displaying maturity, confidence, and consistency throughout the event, Lin emerged as Asia’s newest junior champion and highlighted the bright future of cue sports across the continent.

The day’s celebrations concluded with the official medal ceremony, where the newly crowned champions received their medals and championship trophies. ACBS Secretary General Michael Alkhoury, together with representatives of the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation and distinguished guests, presented the awards in recognition of the athletes’ outstanding achievements and contributions to another successful edition of the Asian Pool Championships.

While three champions celebrated continental glory, attention has now shifted to the A+Plus Men’s 9-Ball Asian Pool Championship, which began today at the Ho Xuan Huong Gymnasium. Featuring many of Asia’s highest-ranked players, the championship will run through July 15, with competitors battling for the coveted Asian title, valuable WPA World Ranking points, and a share of the US$40,000 prize fund.

The 2026 Asian Pool Championships carry a combined US$107,200 prize fund across four disciplines, reinforcing the tournament’s position as one of the premier events on the Asian and international cue sports calendar. As a WPA-sanctioned championship, the event continues to provide a world-class platform for the continent’s finest athletes while strengthening the pathway to global competition.
